Update: Rihanna & Chris Brown Back Together

Nearly three weeks after making headlines for a dispute that turned violent, Rihanna and Chris Brown have worked out their differences and are back together.

According to People Magazine, the superstar couple are currently hanging out at one of Diddy’s homes.

"They're together again. They care for each other," a source told People. "While Chris is reflective and saddened about what happened, he is really happy to be with the woman he loves."

Brown surrendered himself to authorities following the February 8th incident and was charged with one count of making felony criminal threats and released on bail.

The singer released a statement apologizing for the incident a few days later.

Prosecutors are currently trying to build a domestic violence case against Brown. Rihanna has not pressed any charges against Brown.

Vanessa Veasely’s Show Magazine Cover

Dawn Richards of Danity Kane Gets Nude for KING Magazine Photo Shoot....

Dawn Richard, 25, one of the three remaining members (previously 5 members) of Bad Boy Records Danity Kane, the all girl female group put together on Diddy’s Making The Band Show, has made an appearance in a photo spread for King Magazine’s 50th issue. There’s an all nude photo or should we say a flesh showing photo of the singer circulating believed to be one of the photos taken for her King Magazine photo shoot.

In the revealing photo you can clearly see that Dawn Richards seems to be completely naked while sitting propped on a bar stool with her feet crossed and hands hanging over a flower vine like tattoo on her foot.

In related news, Dawn recently hosted the celebration for King Magazine 50th issue which also features a cover shoot with singer Chrisitina Milian in New York. Other celebrities that attended the event included Busta Rhymes, Free (formerly of BET 106 & Park), Ron Browz, BET’s Alesha Renee, John Singleton, Red Cafe, Nina B, amongst others.

Dawn Richards photo shoot follows behind former Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day’s nude photo shoot for Playboy Magazine.

Chris Brown pleads self-defence to Rihanna attack over phone

RnB singer Chris Brown will reportedly plead self-defence in his assault case against his ex girlfriend Rihanna.

A source tells Life & Style magazine, "Chris is already building his case.

"He's saying she threw a phone at him, then hit him in the head and basically just lost it. He's saying she attacked him."

Darren Kavinoky, a criminal defence attorney in LA, said of Brown's defence:
"Unless there's some indication that she was enraged to the point that she physically threatened him, I think he'd have a tough time with that defense.

"If it goes to court, ultimately it would be up to a jury to decide."

Meanwhile, Rihanna - who recently celebrated her 21st birthday and is currently on holiday in Mexico - is said to be "deeply traumatized" by the current situation.

The source added, "She's devastated all this has become so public.

"She's just angry and extremely humiliated that the whole world knows how much pain she's in right now.

"She's told her team to do what they need to do.

"She just wants them to handle things for her."

The embattled 19-year-old singer was arrested earlier this month after an alleged altercation with girlfriend Rihanna, which reportedly left her with two "huge contusions" on both sides of her forehead, a bloody lip and bloody nose.

The Run It singer was freed on bail following the incident and is facing charges of making criminal threats and is due in court in L.A. on March 5 for an arraignment hearing (although the date could be pushed back).

And although the Umbrella singer is yet to file charges against Chris, he is already preparing his counterattack.

A Bailout For The NBA? NBA reportedly set to borrow 175 million dollars

The National Basketball Association (NBA) will borrow 175 million dollars to serve as aid to teams that might struggle in the weak global economy, Sports Business Journal reported Thursday.
The report said the presumption is teams would use the funds to cover operating losses and that while the league was not looking to borrow, Bank of America and JPMorgan came to the NBA several weeks ago with the opportunity.

Half of the league's 30 teams agreed there was a need to go through with the borrowing, according to the report, which said the money will supplement a 1.7 billion-dollar credit facility that uses the NBA's broadcast contracts as loan collateral.

The deal comes with interest rates up to 8.27 percent and each of the 15 teams that wanted to borrow could take a maximum of 11.66 million dollars from the debt proceeds, according to the Journal.

"In this economic environment, it's tremendous that the league can place such a facility," Orlando Magic chief operating officer Alex Martins told the Journal.

"It certainly helps us bridge the time period between now and when we move into our new events center in 2010. We've been operating at a 15 (million) to 20 million (dollar annual) loss over the past half-dozen years so it helps us."

The Sacramento Kings are another likely candidate to dip into the loan funds after reports earlier this month said the California club could lose as much as 25 million dollars this season.

Kanye's New GF Works the Pole

It looks like Kanye West's new gal is really into the singles scene -- as in she's got a history of stripping for one dollar bills. Here's a picture of a wigged out "Amber Rose" in the dressing room of a strip club in Philadelphia. Wonder if Kanye makes it rain on her?

Update: DMX 'Assaulted' Prison Guard Over Food

DMX's recent attack on a prison guard was set off by the food that was served to him.

Reports surfaced earlier today (February 25) that the rapper attacked an Arizona prison guard but the reason behind it was not revealed.

Lisa Allen, a spokesman for Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, revealed to The Phoenix Times this afternoon that DMX threw a tray of food at the prison guard on Sunday (February 22).

DMX ended up in lockdown earlier this month after threatening prison guards.

Inmates in lockdown don’t get served the same kind of food as other inmates, they are given "Nutra-loaf,” which The Times described 'as a gross slab of mystery food'.

Allen claims that when the prison guards were passing out the meals, DMX grabbed a tray of food that wasn't his and when he was told to hand it back, he threw it at an officer and yelled "Fuck you!"

Allen said that despite the fact that DMX didn't actually strike the prison guard, his actions against the guard are defined as assault.

DMX, who is currently serving a three month jail sentence for various felony charges, is now facing a charge of felony aggravated assault. If he is convicted of the charge, his probation could be revoked and he could be sentenced to 8 or more years in prison.

T.I. Ordered To Pay More Child Support

Today (February 25), an Atlanta judge ordered T.I. to pay more child support to the mother of two of his children, Lashona Dixon.

Dixon took T.I. to court earlier this year claiming that the monthly payments of $3000 that she received from the rapper wasn't enough to support her and their two sons.

Dixon was seeking as much as $10,000 a month but Judge Bensonetta Tipton bumped the payment to $5000 on Wednesday, according to The Associated Press.

The judge also ordered T.I. to pay half of the children's extracurricular activities and all their medical expenses. He is no longer required to pay for the children's private school tuition.

Randy Kessler, Dixon's attorney, called the judge's decision "a complete victory" and said that his client is "very greatful".

T.I.’s lawyers could not be reached for comment

The rapper has three other children outside of his relationship with Dixon.

Chris Brown enrolls in Anger Management

Chris Brown is taking anger-management classes.

The troubled R&B singer, who was arrested two weeks ago on suspicion of making criminal threats against girlfriend Rihanna, attended his first class in Glendale, Calif., on Monday afternoon.

According to a source, Brown opted for anger management at the behest of his spin doctor, Michael Sitrick. "Chris doesn't actually have to go by law," our insider tells us, "but he believes it will make him look better to the public, and he wants to try to get in a few classes before March 5," his court date.

The Feb. 7 incident - in which Brown allegedly assaulted Rihanna and left her with cuts and bruises to her forehead, lips and cheeks - didn't just stir up controversy. It tarnished Brown's good-guy image so badly that several of his endorsement deals were suspended, including commercials for Wrigley's gum and the Milk Mustache campaign. Brown's songs have also been temporarily taken off the air at a handful of radio stations.

But insiders are rumbling that Chris shouldn't be taking the anger management classes alone. "Rihanna is temperamental, too," says our snitch. "They're both too hot-headed for their own good."

Adds another source: "It didn't help that Rihanna grabbed the keys out of his rented Lamborghini and threw them down the street. She knew it would really infuriate Chris, and it worked."

Look for a Chris/Rihanna reunion soon, though - at least physically. The songbird, who celebrated her 21st birthday on Friday and is hanging out at home in Barbados, will be L.A.-bound to attend Brown's trial.

"She'll be there - she has to testify," confirms our snitch, who doesn't foresee any jail time for Brown. "If Chris is convicted, it would be his first offense. He won't go to prison.

Ne-Yo: 'Rihanna picture hurt my heart'

Ne-Yo has offered his take on the alleged incident between Rihanna and Chris Brown, revealing that he has been in touch with the injured star

Police photos of the singer's bruised face were leaked onto the web last week, and Ne-Yo expressed his pain at seeing the image.

He told MTV.com: "I saw the picture, that hurt me to my heart.

"I still don't know what happened, because I haven't had the opportunity to talk to Chris yet. All I can say is, I'm praying for both of them."

The 'Miss Independent' singer has spoken to Rihanna but was reluctant to push for details about the alleged abuse on 8 February.

He continued: "She says she's fine. She didn't go into detail about what happened. I understand it's a painful situation, I didn't push."

"I just wanna sit down and talk to that dude and just explain if he doesn't understand: 'That's not something that's excusable, bruh. You have to get a little smarter about whatever it is going on in your relationship. You have to get a little smarter about how you handle certain situations.'"

Judge Allows Gun To Be Used As Evidence Against Lil Wayne, Sets Trial Date

A New York judge ruled today (February 24) that a handgun found in Lil Wayne's tour bus can be used as evidence at his trial.

A 40 caliber handgun was found on Wayne’s tour bus by New York police in July 2007 following a performance at Manhattan’s Beacon Theatre.

A police officer testified at a pre-trial hearing last year that she boarded the bus because she smelled marijuana and claimed she saw Lil Wayne trying to hide something in a bag. She said when she looked inside the bag she found the handgun.

Lil Wayne was slapped with a felony charge of gun-possession. His lawyer has argued that the gun did not belong to the rapper and that the officer falsely claimed she smelled marijuana so she could board the bus illegally.

According to The Associated Press, Judge Charles Solomon also set April 20th as the trial date for Lil Wayne's case.

Wayne has pleaded not guilty to the gun charge. If convicted, he may face up to three and a half years in prison due to New York’s strict gun laws.

FOX chariman Apologizes for cartoon

News Corporation Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch personally apologized today (February 24) for a cartoon published in The New York Post.

The cartoon, which was published last Wednesday (February 18 ) in The New York Post, featured two police officers - one with a smoking gun - standing over a bullet-riddled dead chimp.

The caption read: "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill." The cartoon, authored by Sean Delonas, was published just one day after President Barack Obama signed a historic stimulus bill.

"Today I want to personally apologize to any reader who felt offended, and even insulted," said the statement from Murdoch, CEO of News Corp., which also owns Fox, the F/X cable network, 20th Century Fox and various publishing interests in addition to The New York Post.

"I can assure you -- without a doubt -- that the only intent of that cartoon was to mock a badly written piece of legislation." Murdoch said the cartoon “was not meant to be racist, but unfortunately, it was interpreted by many as such."

"We all hold the readers of The New York Post in high regard, and I promise you that we will seek to be more attuned to the sensitivities of our community," said Murdoch.

During an interview with CNN, Delonas himself made an attempt to defend the cartoon, which has made national headlines around the world.

"Do you really think I'm saying Obama should be shot? I didn't see that in the cartoon," Delonas told CNN. "It's about the economic stimulus bill," he added. "If you're going to make that about anybody, it would be [House Speaker Nancy] Pelosi, which it's not."

Meanwhile, the fallout over the article continues and Murdoch’s apology may have come too late.

On Saturday (February 21), the NAACP issued an ultimatum to The New York Post and FOX, threatening a boycott if Delonas and Australian editor-in-chief, Col Allan.

“There is consensus that if the Post does not … get rid of the journalists who are responsible for this bit of hate speech seeing the light of day, that we will move this from a local, regional issue to a very national issue,” said Benjamin Todd Jealous, president of the NAACP.

Afeni Talks 2pac Lawsuit

Amaru Entertainment has responded to a lawsuit over the rights to the film adaptation of rapper Tupac Shakur.

MorganCreek filed the lawsuit against Amaru Entertainment in Los Angeles Superior Court last week.

The lawsuit claims Amaru Entertainment is in breach of contract for refusing "to honor and perform a contract of a production of the film based on the life of Tupac Shakur."

"Tupac touched so many people in his brief life and it makes me feel honored in keeping his message alive," Afeni Shakur told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "And I want to do so with integrity - in the right way with the right people...That's what Tupac would have wanted."

Another rep for Amaru was more candid about the lawsuit and claimed it had "no merit."

"We felt it was important to bring the story of Tupac Shakur, one of music's most remarkable icons, to life onscreen and, in realizing this vision, we sought to find the best partner who would be true to Tupac's vision and bring his unique story to life on the big screen," another rep for Amaru said in a statement. "In doing so, we have taken every step to ensure that our partner in this process is committed to the integrity of Tupac Shakur's legacy and, more importantly, that they are the right people."

Amaru Entertainment also claimed that MorganCreek contacted other movie production houses, in an attempt to allegedly sabotage any new negotiations.

Amaru Entertainment is now filing a counter-lawsuit against Morgan Creek over the movie and sabotage allegations.

"Sadly, MorganCreek decided to take advantage of this situation and attempt to frustrate our project by interfering with our business relationships," the rep stated. "We will not be frightened by MorganCreek's tactics and we are absolutely confident that the movie will be produced and released."

The news comes on the heels of the success of Notorious, the life story of Tupac Shakur's one time rival, The Notorious B.I.G. The movie grossed over $21 million dollars in its opening weekend, despite bad reviews from critics.

Both artists were involved in a bitter feud that eventually led to their deaths. Shakur was gunned down on the Las Vegas strip in September of 1996, while B.I.G. was shot and killed six months later in Los Angeles in March of 1997.

Since their deaths, entire cottage industries have sprung up around both Shakur and B.I.G. in the form of numerous posthumous releases, including books, albums, TV specials, documentaries and movies.

"Tupac's story is what Hollywood legends are made of - and we want to make sure that the movie tells Tupac's story like it should be told and lives up to everyone's expectations," the rep for Amaru said.

Rick Ross Vows to Outsell 50

With the diss records at a current cease fire, the debate as to who won between Rick Ross [click to read] and 50 Cent [click to read] is still uncertain. Of course, if you asked each rapper their opinion, the decision would be unanimous.

Speaking with MTV, Ross pointed to one of his latest diss tracks as an example of how he allegedly took down the G-Unit ringleader. “My freestyles as you could hear them, 'Kiss My Pinky Ring [click to listen],' I do them in 20 minutes and put them out there. Those crumble empires.”

While 50 Cent has spent more time developing humorous skits to discredit Ross, “The Boss” feels his dedication to the musical side of the beef has outshined any cartoon posted by Curtis. “People [are] listening to how potent the music is,” Ross explained. “That's all this really is for me. I'm not really excited yet. All this is a platform for me to show people how talented I am. How much better of a lyricist I am.”

Making one of his boldest claims yet, Ross put Deeper Than Rap on the same level as Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ [click to read] in terms of impact and quality, saying, “If [50] sold 10 [million], my next album should sell 12.”

Are Rappers Feeling the Recession?

Ballin’ til you fall may not be such a good idea nowadays. Budgets are being cut, albums are collecting dust on the shelves and concertgoers are becoming scarcer. With the music industry being one of the recession’s hardest hit victims, even typically flamboyant rappers have been forced to re-assess their spending habits. Some confessed to cutting back while others say they’ve yet to feel the crunch.
XXLMag.com caught up with the likes of E-40, Akon, Pusha T and Mr. Recession himself, Young Jeezy, to discuss the effects of the recession.

Young Jeezy: I mean, I probably cut back on some of my spending habits, you know what I’m sayin’? Not really habits, but it’s probably some things that I always want that I don’t need, so I’m cutting back on the extra stuff…Wants and needs are two different things, nah mean? So I’m focusing more on what I need.

Akon: I’ve been very blessed to be in a situation where music and fashion is always recession proof in a lot of different ways, because it’s really what we turn to when we’re going through hard times. If I got to the point where the recession actually affected me I would cut back on all them cars I got. I would start selling them if I can. That’s the only thing I spend more than I have to on. Only cause it’s my fetish and I just love cars, but I already know it in my mind that I won’t buy it if I ain’t ready to let it go tomorrow. I know at the end of the day, my hustler mentality if I have to survive, that car is out of here, straight up.

E-40: It’s the ripple effect. If there ain’t no money out there in the streets, any money out there for our audience to go buy our music, then our sales go down. That affects our pockets. A dude might be financially comfortable or whatever, but then you have people that’s affiliated with you that might be going through it. Sometimes you gotta sacrifice and come out the pocket. They think it won’t hurt you, but in a way if you do with four, five different people, it do affect. It’s life in general. Everybody getting it right now as far as this recession. Right now, it’s either feast or famine. You’re either eating or you ain’t, so you gotta hold on like a hubcap in a fast lane. The strong gon be able to survive.

Tru Life: Oh nah, that shit [recession] ain’t touched me not a bit. It ain’t a game man. I just bought 4 or 5 brand new black cars and only because I felt like the haters thought I was doing bad or something. Now it looks like a funeral when I pull up. They just saw me being humble, I’m a real humble dude. You know I live by my needs, I don’t really live outside of my needs. I’m not the nigga running around with the fancy car living in the projects. Like, I went and bought my house before I bought anything. I’m doing pretty well. Never had an album out in my life. But I’m doing real good by the graces of Allah. It’s all Allah’s will. I respect that, that’s why I give back all the time. I help out all the time. They talk about me doing all the foul shit but never talk about you might catch me in the Bowery, in the homeless shelter washing dishes or something my nig. That’s the kind of dude Tru life is. I just wanted to show niggas I ain’t starving.

Saigon: Has the recession affected me? Nah I wouldn’t say so. I don’t think the recession affects any poor people – people who grew up poor – cause we’d been in a recession since we was born. When has there not been a recession in the hood.

The Game Faces $1.5 million lawsuit

The Game may be ordered to pay over $1 million in damages stemming from an alleged basketball –fueled assault in February 2007.

Shannon Rodrick, a basketball coach, claims that the Compton star, real name Jayceon Taylor, punched and threatened him almost 2 years ago during a Los Angles City Hoop game.

According to Rodrick's March 2008 suit, he was coaching his Blazers team to a double digit blowout of the Litem-up, whom the Game was playing for.

During a timeout, the filing states the Game accosted Rodrick verbally before the alleged physical assault.

"Your team is garbage," the lawsuit reports Game as stating. "You guys are nothing but a bunch of busters."

After subsequently punching Rodrick in the face, the coach claims Game vowed to shoot him after he followed the Hip-Hop star outside the Rita Walters Learning Complex.

To prevent this, Rodrick details that he hid inside the venue until the rapper left.

Since the incident's fallout, Game has already pleaded no contest to firearm possession in a school zone, served 8 days in jail, received three years probation, and is in the process of completing 150 hours of community service.

However, the popular emcee never responded to civil court allegations resulting from the altercation.

Rodrick's attorney, Rosely George, is pushing for a default outcome at the next court session, which would force the defendant to pay $1.5 million dollars to Rodrick as compensation for the attack.

To avoid the hefty payout, the Compton emcee will need to attend and make a case at the next scheduled court session on April 22.

Since releasing his gold certified third project LAX last summer, Game has so far maintained his vow to "retire" from making any further studio albums.

At press time, the Game could not be reached for comment.

Leaked Picture May Get Chris Brown off

The recent and unauthorized release of an LAPD photo of Rihanna after an alleged domestic encounter with fellow singer Chris Brown may have been enough to keep the incident from every seeing the inside of a courtroom.

According to an LAPD source, Brown, even if guilty, may walk due to the leak of the photo.

"The most unfortunate aspect of the entire incident is not only the total disrespect for the victim, Rihanna, but the legal ramifications related to jury pool pollution the public revelation of this photo obviously has on the possible upcoming criminal case against alleged attacker, Chris Brown. “Brown, even if guilty, could walk free because of the unauthorized release of this photo,” the unnamed source said.

Gossip web site TMZ reportedly obtained the photo from an insider close to the investigation. The leak of the photo—which will likely lead to the termination of the person who released it—was obtained for $62,500.

Cops Bust tour bus with 500 pounds of weed

Arkansas police revealed today (February 20) that they seized nearly 500 pounds of marijuana from a tour bus this week and the two Georgia men in the vehicle implicated Fabolous.

According to KHBS, police claim that they initially stopped the bus for driving on the shoulder of a highway on Tuesday night (February 17) and when they searched the bus they found 496 pounds of marijuana in a duffle bag.

Police also revealed that they found $6,452 in cash on the men.

The two men, who were identified as 52-year-old Edward Thimas and 44-year-old Robert Morris, told the police that they were returning from the NBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix and they had been escorting Fabolous who was not on the bus during their arrest.

The men claimed that Fabolous and another rapper who was not identified loaded the marijuana on the bus and told them to contact them when they got to Boston.

It is unclear whether Fabolous has been questioned. Police said they are keeping the two men in custody because the stories they gave during interrogation were conflicting.

Rihanna Issues Statement

Def Jam singer Rihanna broke her silence recently, almost two weeks after an alleged domestic dispute with fellow singer Chris Brown.

While the star could not talk about the ongoing investigation at the request of the LAPD, she wanted to ensure the public and her fans that she was “doing well.”

"At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown," Rihanna’s rep said yesterday. "She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time."

The message also coincided with her 21st birthday and comes just days after Brown issued a statement apologizing for the incident without going into detail about what happened.

While Nelly [click to read] has done well for himself, putting out multi-platinum albums, buying a stake in the Charlotte Bobcats, creating the Apple Bottoms clothing brand, and earning himself a few Grammys, the St. Louis rapper is now planning to take a crack at prime time television. Currently, he is in talks with the creators of “The Biggest Loser,” “The Daily Show,” and “Steve Harvey’s Big Time Challenge,” to produce his own television show.

According to news that broke this morning, the upcoming show is being pitched as a weekly variety program called “Nelly’s Night in Vegas.” Similar to old-school variety segments such as “The Ed Sullivan Show,” which featured skits and high-profile musical acts like Elvis and The Beatles, “Vegas” will include Nelly performing and interacting with other celebs.

“I was thinking about what was missing on TV, and when this idea came about, it made sense for me,” Nelly explained about why he’s decided to produce the show. “We do have talk shows, but no one’s speaking from the pop culture perspective. Let’s get a little more pop, a little more edge, a little bit younger, and not look like you’re sitting in the principal’s office. As a performer, that’s the type of show you look forward to going on.”

According to the release, the show would look like a cross between a talk show and a variety show, complete with a sidekick, a house band, guests, and performances. Because it will be shot in Vegas, there may also be an in-studio gaming element. Producers have already made a deal with Planet Hollywood to shoot the weekly series at its Las Vegas hotel.

Producers are optimistic, although recent attempts at the variety show, including Rosie O’Donnell’s “Rosie Live” have ultimately failed. Nelly is not the only celeb attempting the variety genre: John Mayer and the Osbournes are also planning to star in their own variety shows as well.

There is no word yet on when the show will be scheduled to air, or which networks are looking to pick it up.

RiRi to Chris "Your apology dont mean sh#t"

Ri Ri wants Chris to know that his apology is totally worthless in her eyes:

Singer Rihanna’s camp has declined to officially comment on Chris Brown’s apology statement, but sources say that the “Umbrella” crooner is “appalled” by Brown’s statement.

“All of us, including Rihanna, don’t understand how he can say he’s sorry on the one hand, but still… does not admit any guilt,” a Barbados pal of Rihanna tells the Chicago Sun-Times. “He should have expressed more contrition.”

After a week of negative press for Chris subsequent to the alleged abuse of Rihanna, Brown released a statement saying he was “sorry and saddened… over what transpired,” but did not go into detail about the altercation.

A source close to the Rihanna told the newspaper that RiRi is “royally pissed off” at what she calls Brown’s “cavalier and arrogant statement.”

Both singers are currently keeping a low profile. Chris is due in court March 5
